Screening Begins Jan 11th as Supplementary list gets Thicker...Unilag Pg Admissions

Those who did not find their names in the merit list released 31st of December there seems to to be some ray of hope.

Rumors has it that more names will soon be released this new week or the next.

We gathered from internal sources that many mistakes were made in the first list as it was hurriedly compiled and almost most people actually performed well, these are being recommended by top school personalities.

This list may not follow the scoring pattern, but will be by recommendation and correction of mistakes made in previous list.

We also found out that the advocacy for supplementary list is high and many powerful people are in favour of the second list.

But not all departments are aligning to this, especially departments in faculties of Science and Medicine

Their complaint stem from the fact  that the facilities are more than the students and that the school makes a lot from these Pg programmes but pays little to the lecturers.

Anyway, everybody has issues.

Whether the supplementary list see the light of day, is a matter of time.
Just know good-news is on the way.

You may just do well to read my advise below

I also advise those in my online class, that if you scored very well try to go to the dept this week and seek for favor. there are many people ready to help if only you can ask and get out of your comfort zone.

How to Apply for Installment Payment during Unilag Pg admission

Now, you can pay installment for your postgraduate admission fees.

This privilege is only available for PART TIME STUDENTS only, Full time students cannot partake in this.

On your Pg dashboard there is a place for installment payments click on it(this action is irreversible)

The fees for part payment will be divided into two of equal halves with the added interest rate. e.g N100,000 and below attract interest of N5,000, while above attracts interest of N10,000.

Your payment advise will be adjusted to reflect this.

you can print the payment advise and go and pay using either online payment or bank payment

EXAMPLE:

Msc Actuarial Science Tuition fees PT = N100,000

If you apply for Instalmental payment,  interest fees = N5000

Total Tuition fees = N105,000.

The system will divide the fees into two halves; N55,000 and N50,000.

First semester you pay N55,000 plus N61,500 compulsory fee

How to pay Acceptance Fees and Tuition Fees - Unilag Postgraduate(M.Sc/Masters & Pgd) Admission 2016/2017

The Registration and screening exercise for Postgraduate(M.Sc/Masters & Pgd) will commerce by Monday 11th January 2016. That is no longer news, what is news is that many student still dont know how to go about paying for their fees acceptance and tuition.

There are other fees associated with Pg screening, which I will cover in the post.

First thing first printing your payment advise as I showed step step here how to download it.
Then next is payment of acceptance fees = N61,500 and Tuition fees.

I advise you dont pay them together, because they are actually different.

Many want to go for Unilag Pg instalmental payment option. which attract a little interest but if you ask me, its very ok, if you are low on cash  at the moment.

Acceptance fees payment:

The acceptance fees for all course is N61, 500. its non- refundable and negotiable.
The is the first fee you paid before any other. its shows you locked down the admission.

Unilag gives 6 weeks for you to pay this fee, of forfeit your admission. (hope its not a bluff)

You can pay Online or pay direct into a bank.

Online Payment for Acceptance & Tuition fees

you an use your laptop  or go to any bank that offer online payment facility in their premises like GTB and use it for this transaction. you can also use ATM to do this in the bank premises. sms and receipt will be generated for you as normal procedures

STEPS:

1. On your student dashboard page there is a session that shows PAY ONLINE.

2. Click on it and it gives you options to pay either acceptance fees or tuition fees. if you want to pay both you can tick both.-the fees are already indicated there. just chose what you want

3. There is option to pay through transgate showing cards to pay with e.g master card, verve card etc chose one

4. It display where to fill in your details and submit

5. N500 charges are deducted from you as bank charge

6. As soon as you submit 2 things happens, an sms is sent to your phone of successful payment

7. A receipt is generated within your dashboard which you can click to view and then download to your computer

8. Print it out for verification exercise.

Normal Bank Payment

This is the normal bank payment we all are used to. The disadvantage is that is cumbersome and stressful. The banks inside Unilag for now are the only banks used for this purpose. hence the ONLINE payment is enjoying massive patronage.

The bank charges here is N250 compared to N500 for online payment.

The banks for these transaction are:

1. GTB
2. ZENITH BANK
3. FIRSTBANK
4. ACCESS BANK
5. Wema Bank
6. UBA bank
7. Ecobank

Payment for Prospectus N5,000

To pay for this you need to go to Unilag Pg school ROOM 5 inside Unilag Akoka and pay physically for the prospectus, you will be given a receipt for this purpose.

How long is Pg Registration? - Unilag Postgraduate Admission 2015/2016:

Screening/Registration for all successful 2015/2016 Unilag Postgraduate new students is January 11th. But many people still don't know how long all these will last.

Let me break it down.

The official period for registration or screening is 6 weeks, or February ending, I envisage a 2 weeks extension because of the supplementary list that will still be released later on.

But go locked down your admission by paying the N61,500 acceptance fees, while you hustle for the tuition fees and also try to attend classes for lectures as lecture will probably starts January 18th.

Note that screening and registration are same. As you sign you papers you are been screened. The final place is at multi-purpose Hall. Where  all your original credentials are sighted. All payment must be done before you get to this point.

Screening Exercise Details:

Venue:        Multi-Purpose Hall C (Beside School of postgraduate studies)
Time:         9am - 3pm (Monday – Friday)
Commencement: Monday 11th January 2016
Duration:     Six (6) Weeks)

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO 2015/2016 UNILAG PG REGISTRATION/VERIFICATION PROCESS AND SIGNING

After I posted the verification requirement for Unilag Pg 2015/2016 we got lot of calls  on where to go or what to do first.

 Many people seems overwhelmed.

To avoid people been confused and feeling frustrated, let me prepare your mind and legs for the
strenuous journey you are about to embark on.

Its will be filled with fun and jerks, you will make many friends and meet your classmates for the first time.  it will be like the old Jamb period re-enactment.

Just enjoy the process, because trust me many people will get on your nerves.
you will be moving from one desk to the other carrying white papers for signing as if you are begging for food to eat.

Meanwhile, lectures might be going on in your department.

So in this post I listed the step by step guide or call it TABLE BY TABLE GUIDE to Unilag Pg registration exercise and signing.

If you're ready, lets dive in.

8 Step by Step guide to Unilag Pg Registration Process and their Venues

STEP 1. Make copies and print all of your documents as listed in my previous post.

STEP 2. Pay your N5k for Pg prospectus at the PG school near education then collect receipt which is requirement #9

 Venue: Pg school

STEP 3. Go to the department to fill your required courses for the session. the department will give you the courses you need to fill.  Don't worry if you make a mistake or if you don't really know which elective to take or not, just fill all, later on as the semester progress you will be asked to delete any course you dont want or fill the course you want

 Venue: Your various depts

STEP 4. Signed your portion of the course forms and biodata forms. there are 4 places for four signatories
 a. Yourself
 b. Bursary
 c. Dept
 d. Pg school

Venue: In your room (lol)

STEP 5. Go to Bursary with your forms especially 1-4 and 8.

Venue: The bursary is located under the library or before you climb the stairs leading to the Main library besides the Main auditorium  at Akoka campus.

(Here they might ask you for settlement as in lets wash the admission before they sign. Don't give them anything)

STEP 6. Go to the department and ask the HOD to sign your course form. this is where most forms are normally delayed.  you may have to leave the forms with the secretary and come back for it the next day as, the HOD may be forming busy and wont attend to you.
 (frustration point #1)

 Venue: your various department
(Those whose depts are in  Idiraba, will move to and fro like the wind this season)

After successfully crossing this hurdle go to the next step

STEP 7. Go to PG school for your signing, here they will require all documents, original and all.
your originals will be sighted and returned to you, please take it back and keep. The official will keep a copy of your document
 (frustration point #2).

Here there are usually long queues and the staffs are sometimes lazy and closes before time.

Venue: Multi-purpose Hall C beside Pg school.

By this time all 4 signatories must have signed and stamped. Go to the next and final step

STEP 8. Go back to the department and submit a copy, and keep one for your self.
usually its only three copies that are required. but followed the rules and make four.

 NOTE:

Duration for all these will probably take Minimum of 3 days and for some one week, other 2 weeks Max.  But trust me, its stressful and fill with enough ego and attitude from department and Pg staffs.

 Get ready for drama.

After you get through this, dust yourself up and congratulate yourself as you officially became a full fledge student of The University of Lagos (UNILAG)- The First among equals.

 Any more questions?

Ask me in the comment session.

2015/2016 Unilag Pg Supplementary Admission Merit List?

After the released of the 2015/2016 Unilag Pg admission merit list some few days ago, many are left sad  and feeling down.

To worsen the matter the news about admission list had filtered in during the new year celebration on January 1st 2016.

Some could not hold their tears and disappointment.
Many were so sure of themselves after all the reading and sleepless nights. I could not argue less.

Emotions ran high and many could not hide their disdain and frustration. They are  not are worried about admission letter or school fees, they just want to see their names on the list.

so sad too bad.

Unilaggoogle they asked "But is that the end of admission list?"

is there any more list to come?

do I have any hope?

what next should I do?

I need this admission, I cant just give up now?

please help me what can you do for me ?

The list is endless.

I felt sad for some, especially those that worked hard during the exams.

In life sometimes its not over until its over.

To answer the questions bluntly,

Is there going to be any supplementary list for 2015/2016 Unilag Postgraduate admission?

There is no supplementary list in Unilag Pg admission. In 2015/2015 session, some list where added for some courses like MBA and other management courses.

if the practice will continue this year I cannot say, but I can definitively advise you if you fall in this category on what you can do now.

Also note that up till matriculation admission still occurs on a daily basis, never forget that.

Follow the steps below to get your names in the admission list.

STEPS TO TAKE TO ENTER SUPPLEMENTARY LIST

Step 1.  You will be willing to press for the admission, so you must leave your comfort zone, office, home and get things to move on your behalf

Step 2. Check out your score in your department if you scored above 40% and maybe you even scored above cut-off but you were not eligible for the course, you will discover that here.

Step 3. Find who can help you with admission within the department or ask for those that knows.
(its a common knowledge, just as the right source)

Step 4.  This route may involve money, between 40k - 100k but I've seen its done for free for many people, these are exceptions rather than norms

Step 5. Be smart and dont allow anybody to dupe you of your money. Though this route has 10% success rate.

Step 6.  Each dept may still take up to 5 and some 10 people more. Reason because not all on merit lust will take up the admission for so many reason.

Step 7. Whatever, you decide, take responsibility for your actions. mine is to tell you what will constitute the supplementary list as the list may not be online, the concern students will just be sent sms or email.

While Unilag Pg registration is ongoing you might just be lucky and join the happy ones

If you have any questions or issues concerning your case please ask me in the comment session.

all the best.
