Job Title NMC Data/Internet Engineer
Department: Network Group
Location: Lagos
Job Description:
•Monitor performance of all ATM core devices i.e Stingers (DSLAM),PSAX and generate weekly report on them.
•Monitor traffic utilization on Core ATM pipes on the ATM Network.
•Provide 24*7*365 troubleshooting, controlling and resolving of all network and customer related faults.
•Real time Monitoring of all CPE devices (Copper DSL and Fiber Modems) on the Network.
•Monitor, Analyze and provide information on traffic utilization on CPE’S to customers.
•Monitor and acknowledge all Alarms from all ATM Core equipment and CPE’s .
•Configuring New Vc’s on ATM devices for new installation on the ATM Network.
•Managing /Administering New Internet /Monitoring activities of clients on the Radius Authentication Server.
•Improving Network quality by improved monitoring of all ATM Network elements on a real time basis.
•Recording all new connections on the ATM network on Real time basis.
•Overviewing Network element has proper efficiency and trouble spots using different NMS tools.
•Relating with Customer Support Engineers on ports to connect client for new installation, follow-up on faults attended to and keeping records of new installation.
•Managing (e.g configuring, documenting) of interfaces (ports) on the ATM (DSLAM) Stinger device.
•Escalate all unresolved faults of Internet and Data Services to Customer Support Engineers which cannot be resolved remotely.
•Give support to Customer Support Engineer on how faults can be resolved by troubleshooting on the DSLAM with them.
•Ensure proper bandwidth allocation procedures are objected too, in order to ensure optimal bandwidth utilization on the overall ATM network.
•Monitoring/Administering pipes to the Satellite network through the Fiber Equipment.
•Ensure Faults are logged in to determine Network stability.
•Provide ideas and feedback on software tools, procedures and improvements to NMC functionality of Data/Internet operations
•Ensure properly monitoring and implementation of all network changes according to the organisation process and procedures.
•Provide regular update on MTNN performance and other network issues to the management, call centre, sales and distribution, marketing and other relevant department in MTNN.
•Real Time Performance monitoring of all network elements effectively and provide daily reports for the next action to be carried out to improve network quality.
•Assume responsibility for correctly forwarding trouble tickets issued against all MTN Staffs, other providers, International providers and MTN contractors. Also ensure that those tickets are resolved within specified period
•Dispatch all unresolved faults to the NMC Data/Internet Co-ordinator if necessary
•Act as interface and provide access ref number to MTN Contractors, Field Engineers, Operational Maintenance Center Engineers and other GSM/PTOs companies for planned work/change request and access to all MTN Location
•Perform NMC duties as instructed by Data/Internet Co-ordinator,
•follow-up and clearing of specific network faults.
•Escalate all faulty devices or hardware detected after troubleshooting/diagnosing (which cannot be resolved remotely) to the field support engineers (Radio, Transmission, ESS and others) for replacement in order to improve network performance.
•Provide real time security information to all regional security offices across the country in order to prevent all MTNN equipments through real time network surveillance
•Provide ideas and feedback on software tools, procedures and improvements to NMC functionality.
•Assist Capital program group engineers/Radio Engineers/Optimisation and support personnel with clearing of complex faults.
•Ensure properly monitoring and implementation of all network changes according to the organisation process and procedures
•Provide regular update on MTNN performance and other network issues to the management, call center, sales and distribution, marketing and other relevant department in MTNN
•Any extra duties as given from time to time by the NMC Co-ordinator.
Job Conditions:
Normal MTNN working conditions. Regular shift work. On stand by 24/7 through out the year.
Reporting To: Data/Internet Coordinator
Required Skills:
•At least 4 years hands-on experience in Cisco Networking experience current, telecommunications or a related field.
•Experience in Alcatel Lucent equipments
•Knowledge of Cisco router Proficient

Qualification:
B.Sc Computer Science/Engineering or a related field. CCNA or CCNP beneficial.
