Is Unilag Pg 2015/2016 Results and Admission List Out?

I get a lot of calls , sms and emails from worried applicants who sat in the last Unilag Pg 2015/2016 exams  which was conducted in October 2015.

They are concerned that the results nor admission list is out 3 months after exams especially since 60% of the exams were in CBT format.

I think there is no need to be worried.

At least  the school has not cancelled the exams or something of that nature. Though I must confess this is rather poor and unbecoming of the current administration responsible for Unilag Postgraduate degrees.

I know the results are ready and tidy.

The results are ready plus the admission list too for Unilag Postgraduate 2015.
The last time I checked the Senate sat on it and gave approval, so nothing its holding the result for now.

So why the delay in releasing the results?

Many things contributed which I am not going into details right away.
However, we speculate first week in January for released of results since they could not upload the result this week.

Note that the work now is at the IT dept for uploading the results.
its no more administrative but technical.

The good news is that you can check your results in the dept.
Some people have checked their results and admission status in their departments.

This information came out since November and many that I provide services for checked their status. Some got recommended remarks and others not so lucky.

If you cant wait for the general list to be out, check the department this week and you might be lucky to find the recommended status attached to your name.

 After the result what next?

That is the real question. Admission list of course.
I suppose they (Unilag ) will released both together as they have wasted time in releasing the result.

Those who had access to the results before now, were able to seek for help for admission proper.

What will admission list be like?

I have access to some of the departmental cut-off marks and its pretty low for some courses.
Courses like  Educational courses like Administration and planning is 40%, course on the high side are computer science Msc which is fixed at 56%.

Msc economics is pegged for 46% PT and 64% FT that seems rather high though?
Mass Comm (Msc) is 65%, but many more are around the 40% region

MBA is 40% for executive, PT is 46% while FT is 50%
The admitted list for MBA that I saw  is rather low compared to last year.

Many others cut-off marks are here with me if you ask specifically for yours I might tell you in the comment below.

The Fees

This is another issue that will make so many drop off the way. so if you dont find your name initially, i advise dont give up, a miracle can still happen in Unilag for your sake.

Check here for details of the fees for Unilag Pg 2015/2016 and get prepared for registration

As long at you scored above 40% there is hope.

Most people got zero marks because they did not enlist their certificates, years of experience and class of degree all these carried a totaled of 25%

These are some of the things that will make so many lose this year admission as it lead to many scoring very low marks.

In general, from what I saw, the admission is fair.

What if you didn't make it?

I wish it wont be true, but it is true. majority wont make the cut.
so what do you do next?

There is no need for any worries, try other school or try next year.
That is my honest advise.
Dont run around trying to look for settlement, they will just collect your money and tell you stories.
The honest truth if you ask me.

Let me take your questions now.

MSc vs Professional: Which Way for Postgraduate Studies

I see a lot of candidates applying for Post graduate making loads of mistakes in their career choice.
This is to be expected as many never gave a though to the course they read, as it was 'circumstantial'. however, with your post graduate, I expect some careful planning and caution,  This is your life for God's sake. every decision especially on your career has a life lasting effect.

I will help make some corrections in the mind of many who which to go for their masters study.

I observed most applicants dont know the difference between Msc and Professional Masters.
and those that do are asking me which is better?  lemme clear the air once and for all.

Both are great,  depending on your career Path.

Your career path should be one of these 3 Paths

1. Management

2. Academics/Research

3. Expert/Professional

you need to decide which path is yours, but for most field you need to be an expert first before going into management.

There are 3 types of masters Degree in Unilag

1. academic masters e.g M.Sc IRPM
2. professional masters- masters by research e.g M.Phil
3. professional masters - masters by course-work e.g MBA

MSC vs Professional:

1. Professional courses are great if you want to make money fast - easy to gain employment with these type of certificates

2. Professional courses are great if your path is industry base and field work is important to you.

3. Professional courses are designed for managers and leaders of men and materials

4. You cant use your professional course for PHD, you must do MSC for that

5. You cant use your professional course for lecturing, you must do MSC for that

6. It good to have One professional course on your resume, more relevant and repected by companies

7. More expensive than regular Msc

8. Mostly Part time

9. Professional courses are great if you are working on your business.

10. Msc is 100% research and academic work. Great for efficos and would be lecturers/researchers/New Discoveries

I Need a Masters Degree Something in High Demand and Greater Opportunities

 more questions and answers here

----------------------------------
I studied Industrial Chemistry at the University of Benin, would have gone back for my PG but considered the distance since I now reside in Lagos.

Considering those courses you mentioned, I don't know the level of opportunities available if I study them, because I don't want to study a course just because I need a masters degree but want something which is in high demand and can position me for greater opportunities. Please advise

Lots of thanks,

Hi,

From our discussion, you may need need to do a Pgd degree to better your chances, however,  you can read course like environmental management, environmental toxicology. but since you're interested in management courses, your choices are limited except you did some Pgd first.

you could however, do
MPA, MPIA, MILR,

but if u go for a pgd, then you could do any better course, that will align with your Bsc course except you are changing to management entirely.

find the available pgd course and make a selection
