The general public is hereby informed that Application Forms for admission into the Pre-degree Science Programme of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso will be available on-line for completion as from Monday, April 9, 2012 on the website: www.lautech.edu.ng

Admission Requirement

Candidate should possess at least SSCE, NECO GCE 0rdinary Level or NABTEB in not more than two sittings, with a minimum of credit in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Candidate who does not satisfy the above requirement for admission needs not apply.

Duration of Programme

The programme is expected to run for six (6) calendar months after which there will be an intensive and compulsory ICT programme which will run for three (3) months immediately after the final examination while successful candidates are awaiting admission into the degree programmes.

Method of Application

(1) Prospective Applicants are to proceed to LAUTECH website www.lautech.edu.ng to make payment of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000:00) only for the Application Form and registration online using Interswitch enabled Debit Cards (ATM)

(2) Each prospective candidate is expected to carefully complete and submit the online Application Form. Incomplete Application Form will not be treated.

Closing Date

The closing date for the submission of Application form is Friday, June 1, 2012. Each candidate must ensure that the examination slip bearing his/her passport photograph is downloaded and printed as an evidence of successful submission of form.

Please note that late completion/submission of forms will not be entertained.

Entrance Examination

The entrance examination will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10.00 am at specified centres in Ogbomoso.

UNIVERSITY OF BENIN ADMISSION TO POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 2012/2013

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters degree and Ph.D in the various Faculties/Schools/Institutes of the University of Benin.

A. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 I. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the university of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents, including English and Mathematics or both, as appropriate).

II. Four credits of Ordinary level plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes.

III. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate
 programme of the University of Benin.

IV. Candidates who obtained Masters degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil programme in the first instance.

V. A candidate applying for the PhD in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a weighted average score of 60% or letter grade ‘B’ average in the Masters degree.

VI. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% or letter grade ‘B’.

Transcripts

Candidates should request their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic transcript(s) to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication.
Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

  

Referees Reports

Candidates should request their referees to mail reports on them directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications shall not be processed unless the referee reports are available.

The management of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO has tentatively fixed May 31st as the official date for her 2012/2013 post UTME examination for her expectant freshmen.

Although this is rather sooner than usual, we observed that the early announcement is meant to reflect the new Vice Chancellor's hard work to bring the school back to glory.

A) GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

Jamb 2012 Direct Entry (DE) Application Commences

We're happy to announce that Direct Entry Application for admission into 2012/2013 Session has commenced.

The Direct Entry Programme also know as D.E. enables Diploma Certificate holders (ND,OND,NCE,HND) to study a related course in the University as a Degree Programme without having to write Jamb. However, in some schools, they may be required to sit and pass the Post-UTME exams for such schools they applied for.

Candidates who are qualified for in this programme are to purchase the registration scratch cards at any of First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB) or Zenith Bank across the country.

Please note that the scratch cards have not fully circulated around the branches of these banks across the country so don't be alarmed by this fact because it has just been released and it will take some time to circulate. Besides, the registration process lasts till August in many schools.

Though we strongly advice that a professional handles your registration, if you feel you are capable of handling it, you should be able to print and provide all the information on this Jamb DE Registration Template and have a scanned/digital passport of not more than 3 months before filling and submitting the actual online form. UNILAG POST UTME EXAMS UPDATES: UNILAG 2011/2012 ADMISSION SUMMARY

Here is  detailed breakdown of how UNILAG admitted candidates for 2011/2012 session.
Almost 99,195 applied to UNILAG last year just lest than 1% were admitted.

A total of 7773 students were admitted, a fraction of that number got admitted through Direct Entry.

Most students from experience do not prepare well and take the exams lightly.
The failure rate is alarming-year-in and year-out.Will this year be any different? Time will tell.

The competition is crazy. If possible, I will advise students chose other schools and get their admission. Because even if you score 270 in UTME and score below 50/100 in Post Utme you may NOT get admitted into UNILAG.

In the exams you have to be at your best.

The faculty of science had the largest share of about 1285 students..
Business Admin and Education came second and third respectively with 1187 and 1163
students.

A Biography of UNILAG VC-Professor Sofoluwe (1950 - 2012)

A Tribute To Professor Sofoluwe (1950 - 2012)

Professor Sofoluwe was born on April 15, 1950. The Professor of Computer Science graduated with a Second Class Upper Division (Honours) in Special Mathematics in June 1973 from the University of Lagos.

During his undergraduate years, he received the prestigious German Scholarship award for Academic Brilliance. He also won the Dean’s Prize in the 1971/72 Session.

He was a pioneer National Youth Corps Member in the old South Eastern State of Nigeria.

At the end of the Youth Service, he won a Commonwealth Scholarship to Study at Edinburgh University, Scotland. He earned his Masters Degree in 1975 and Doctorate in 1981 from Edinburgh University.

The astute Scholar-Researcher started his teaching career as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Lagos in 1976 and rose steadily through the ranks to become a full Professor in October 1996.

A versatile administrator, Professor Sofoluwe was a two-time Acting Head, of the Department of Computer Science from 1989 to 1991 and 1994 to 1996.

He served as Dean of the Faculty of Science between 1998 and 2002. Professor Sofoluwe was elected as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos in 2000, for four years. By virtue of his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), he returned to the Governing Council in August 30, 2006 and has been there till date.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Sofoluwe was the Director of Academic Planning Unit of the University.
On June 6, 2010 he was honoured by CMS Grammar School Old Boys Association as a Distinguished Grammarian.

He was also Dean of the Faculty of Science between 1998 and 2002 and was elected as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos in 2000. He was the third alumnus to be appointed Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG when he was appointed to the position in January 2010.

Unilag 2012/2013 Diploma II/Foundation Programme Registration, Dates and More

 The Unilag 2012/2013 Diploma II (now known as Foundation Programme) forms are now available. This years foundation programme from Unilag will give admission to successful applicants into 200 Level in either Unilag, the University of Bedfordshire, University of Central Lancashire (UK), University of the West of England and University of Birmingham.

The programme runs for 2 semesters, after which the successful applicants are pick on grading results of the 2nd semester exams.

According to Unilag, Students who have two A-level passes, HND holders and graduates of recognized Institutions are exempted from the entrance examination and may be considered for admission into the Foundation Programme. This is a strictly non-residential programme.

Interested candidates are to pay the sum of N20,000 (twenty thousand naira) into any of the accounts below;

You are to collect an application number after your payment and wait for 24hrs before going online to register.

After 24hrs, visit the registration portal by clicking here. Before you start, also read the registration guidelines and instructions by clicking here. Fill in your application number and pin to start. Ensure you have a digital photo ready to complete your application.

When registration is complete, Print two copies of the completed form showing the uploaded colour picture; take the two copies to the Faculty Foundation Coordinator to sign and stamp. Submit one copy to the Foundation Coordinator at the Faculty and bring the second copy along to the examination hall on July 24, 2012. Please read the Information and Guidelines for completing the application forms online. Bank charges of N500:00 must be paid into a separate account to be provided at the bank.

Conduct of Examination:

Examination Date: Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Venue: Multipurpose Halls A, B & C, International School Halls, Faculty Lecture Rooms.

Mode of Examination: All Questions are Multiple Choice. Examination subjects are: Mathematics, English Language and 3 relevant subject areas. 40 questions are on each paper, that is a total of 200 questions to be answered in 3 hours. Students are to report at designated venues at 7:00 a.m. Examinations will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Results: Results will be released on the University website and at the Faculties on Monday, August 6, 2012.

Registration starts:

Monday, September 17, 2012

Period of Programme: October 3, 2012 – June 28, 2012
