UNILAG ADMISSION INTO POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA DEGREES IN MARITIME PROGRAMMES (PART-TIME)

The university of lagos has been sending out sms to postgraduate applicants who didn't make the merit list but scored above 40 in the last pg examinations conducted in september to offer them provisional admission in the maritime part time pgd courses.

In this post I provide some details about the programme for those who are interested.

The programmes which was set up some in 2012 started in 2013/2014 session is wholly funded/sponsored by Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency (NIMASA) is pushing for maritime education in the country.

NIMASA initial take off grant for the programme was N1 Billion which has been increased over the years. The University of Lagos was selected as a beneficiary of one of the four  institutes because it's located in the commercial nerve centre of the country and also situated in a coastal state with a long impressive history in the development of human capacity in Nigeria.

I will be giving out updates as they come in.

NIMASA conceived this scheme to bridge the gap created by shortage of seafarers of Nigerian origin whose average age was put at 65 years. The Agency is sponsoring the training of Nigerian youths in some of the best Maritime Training Institutions across the world to degree level in Marine Engineering, Navigation Technology, Nautical Science and Naval Architecture.

This they say is just a stepping stone to that effect.

The Maritime programmes are designed to equip candidates for exciting career options and/or advancement in Maritime communication, navigation and environmental management.

Just like newly established courses trying to make the course appealing to nigerians who do not fancy such courses because of the perceive job opportunities after the programme.

The courses available are:

- Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Communications & Navigation (PGD-MC)

- Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Environmental Studies (PGD-ME)

Step-by-Step Guide - HOW to PAY OBLIGATORY & TUITION FEES ONLINE (UNILAG PG SCREENING/REGISTRATION)

Many postgraduates students who were successful in the last MSc, masters and Post graduate diploma exams are getting ready to go through the famous strenuous process of registration and screening.

This is coming after the gruesome and hypertension-causing admission list  drama released last week.

The admission list which came out bit by bit had loads of questions to answer, as many who were recommended did not find their names in the eventual list.

That is story for another day.

The Pg school management eventually  announced registration and screening to start immediately.

However, students are confused as to how and where to pay their fees, as such instructions were not clearly stated.

I have received loads and loads of questions from admitted students and I will try in this post to answer the most popular questions.

Aparts from how to download admission letter and payment advise, which I already treated

Top three questions I received are:

1. When is the Registration/screening starting

2. When will registration end

3. Can we pay our fees online?

Well in this post I will answer all three questions

I will be giving out updates as they come in.
